Apply for J.R. & Inez Jay Fund

The J.R. & Inez Jay Fund is an endowed fund at the KU Endowment Association that was established by the Jay’s to encourage the conduct of biomedical research. The purpose of the J.R. and Inez Jay Award is to stimulate interdisciplinary, biomedical research activities, in pursuit of large external grants such as multi-investigator R01 awards, program projects, and center grants awarded under the tutelage of the HBC.

Benefits

J.R. and Inez Jay Fund recipients may use funding to gather preliminary data, hire temporary staff, travel to collaborators’ labs, write major grant proposals, and secure supplies and services that enhance those proposals. The award must have a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary, collaborative research efforts.

Eligibility

All biomedical scientists holding Principal Investigator status with the Kansas University Center for Research, Inc. (KUCR) are eligible to apply for one of these awards.

The application deadline for year 2023 has passed.

Application Procedure

Prior to submission to HBC, please use KUCR Pre-Award Services at kucrpremgmt@lists.ku.edu   to help with the proposal preparation. When contacting KUCR Pre-Award Services, you must indicate that this proposal is through HBC.

Please review the requirements, evaluation criteria, limitations, and post award considerations in the Application Guidelines before applying for the J.R. and Inez Jay Funds.  Proposals will take the form of a prospectus and must include the required forms listed below:

  • Cover Page (which includes abstract)
  • Research Narrative (no more than 2 additional pages.)
  • Budget
  • Investment potential
