J.R. and Inez Jay FundThe purpose of the J.R. and Inez Jay Award is to stimulate interdisciplinary, biomedical research activities in pursuit of large external grants such as multi-investigator RO1 awards, program projects and center grants administered through the HBC. To that end, recipients may use Jay funding to gather preliminary data, hire temporary staff, travel to collaborators' labs, write major grant proposals, and secure supplies and services that enhance those proposals. The HBC conducts an annual call for proposals. Generally, two to three grants are awarded annually. All individuals holding Principal Investigator status with the University are eligible to apply.

Services
Center-hosted SeminarsThe HBC hosts two seminars series and an annual symposium:
- The Interdisciplinary Research Seminar Series brings researchers to KU for scientific discussions and presentations regarding one of the HBC's six major research themes. Faculty may invite colleagues and potential collaborators to present and to discuss future collaborations.
