Audus Is New Pharmacy Dean
After conducting a national search, the University of Kansas stayed close to
home by selecting Kenneth L. Audus as the new dean of the School of Pharmacy.
Audus, formerly chair of the School of Pharmacy's pharmaceutical chemistry
department, succeeded Jack E. Fincham.
"I am deeply honored to have been chosen dean of the
School of Pharmacy," Audus said. “This appointment is particularly
meaningful because of my long association with the school. I am very
appreciative of my fellow faculty colleagues and the KU administration for
their confidence.” Audus takes over a school that ranks second among the
nation's elite pharmacy programs in securing funding from the National
Institutes of Health, receiving more than $13.6 illion in NIH funding.
Audus has a
20-year relationshi with the School of Pharmacy. After graduating from the
University of South Dakota in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry,
Audus earned his doctorate in pharmacology from the KU Medical Center in 1984.
After completing postdoctoral work in pharmaceutical chemistry at KU in 1986,
Audus became department chair in 1998. •
