Brian Blagg joins
the department of medicinal chemistry as assistant professor. He is assembling
a team of scientists to continue his research into antitumor antibiotics and immuno-suppressants.
He has a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Utah. Most recently,
a researcher at Scripps Research Institute, he has received the National Institutes
of Health Postdoctoral Fellowship for the past three years.
Heather Desaire, a new assistant professor of chemistry has a Ph.D. from
the University of California-Berkley and, before coming to KU, worked at
Quintiles, Inc., in Kansas City. Her research involves using mass spectrometry
to develop increasingly reliable methods of analyzing pharmaceuticals and
their metabolites.
