HBC Hosts KU Forum

HBC hosted a half-day event for Center scientists in November to meet and discuss their research results. The 'Science Talks' presentations were open to KU faculty and students.

"We wanted to provide an opportunity for all of the scientists associated with HBC to get to learn a little bit more about each others' research interests," said Charles Decedue, HBC's executive director.

The event began with research presentations by faculty members Valentino Stella, Mary Lou Michaelis and Jeffrey Urbauer. A poster session followed in which 39 researchers displayed their work.

"We had a very positive response to the poster session," said Decedue. "One faculty member recommended we have this event more often, especially during graduate school recruitment so students can see all of the research that goes on here."

HBC plans to make the 'Science Talks' a biannual event. "We definitely intend to have one in the spring," said Decedue. "It is our hope that we will be able to have a joint activity with our colleagues in Kansas City."
