To capitalize on the increasing technological innovation spiraling outward from Lawrence and the University of Kansas, area researchers and business leaders, including charter member the Higuchi Bioscience Center, have formed the Lawrence Technology Association, a technology-focused professional organization. In August, LaGarde, Netopia and Griffin Technologies sponsored an LTA organizational meeting, and 40 local technology companies attended.

LTA hopes to capitalize on the rise in technological innovation by providing education and networking opportunities for local professionals and disseminating information about developments to local educational and governmental institutions.
