In January of this year, the Silicon Prairie Technology Association announced that it has been absorbed into KCCatalyst. The organization is dedicated to the creation and expansion of technology-based companies, and to the commercialization of new technologies. KCCatalyst crosses the state line to involve people from both Kansas and Missouri. The organization will draw support from the rich resources and technologies of regional technology firms, universities and research institutions, and professional service providers.

KCCatalyst hopes to foster and support technology in the area in several ways. They will link innovators with science and engineering expertise as well as business development experts to asses the feasibility of developing new products and services. They will help these innovators identify appropriate sources of capital for their projects. Also, they hope to mobilize the regional technology community to identify and resolve issues that inhibit growth of the technology sector in the greater Kansas City area.
